Connect an AI assistant

DAS has a connector for AI assistants. Once it is connected, Claude, ChatGPT or Codex works on the canvas you have open in DAS: it adds shapes, text and images, applies effects and generative layers, and shows you the canvas in the chat. Every edit it makes lands in your DAS History, where you can undo it. Cmd+K in DAS stays the built-in way to work by command; the connector is for running DAS from an assistant you already use.

The connector is in early access. It is open to invited accounts now, and to every DAS license holder when DAS launches.

What you need

The connector address

https://mcp.das.app/mcp

DAS shows it too, with a copy button: open the account panel and choose “Connect your AI assistant”.

Add it to your assistant

Claude

On claude.ai, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address and add it, then sign in when asked. The connector belongs to your Claude account, so the Claude desktop app has it as well.

ChatGPT

Sign in at chatgpt.com and open chatgpt.com/plugins. Choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it DAS, enter the address as the server URL, choose OAuth for authentication, confirm the risk warning and choose Create as a plugin, then sign in to DAS when asked. In a new chat, type @ and choose DAS. Whether your account may add a custom server depends on its plan and, in a workspace, on its settings.

Codex CLI

Run this in a terminal. The sign-in opens in your browser.

codex mcp add das --url https://mcp.das.app/mcp

Signing in

When you connect, a DAS page asks whether to allow the assistant. It names the app asking and the address its access is sent to. Allow it only if you started connecting a moment ago. You then sign in to DAS. DAS asks every time you connect and does not remember an approval.

After that, a DAS tab signed in to the same account connects by itself: there is nothing to switch on. If DAS was already open, it connects when you return to the tab. The account panel shows the state in the row “This tab”: “live” means the assistant works here. With several DAS tabs open, the assistant works in the one you used last.

What an assistant can do

The connector has 23 tools. Those marked “changes” edit the open project and add a step to its History; the others only read.

In Claude and ChatGPT the canvas preview is a small card in the chat, with the picture, its size, a count of the objects, a Refresh button, and an auto switch that refreshes it every 5 seconds while it is on.

An image added from a web address is fetched by your browser, from the site the assistant names.

Undo and limits

When the assistant cannot reach DAS

“no_active_browser”

No DAS tab is connected for your account, so nothing was changed. Open DAS in a desktop browser, signed in to the account you connected. If DAS is already open, click into that tab: that reconnects it. If it still does not connect, open “Connect your AI assistant” in the account panel. The row “This tab” shows the state, and a click switches it on when it reads off.

“timeout_30s”

DAS did not answer in time. The tab may be in the background or busy. Look at the canvas before asking again: the edit may have been applied.

“This DAS account cannot connect yet”

DAS shows this page at sign-in when the connector is not open to your account yet (see early access above).

Disconnect

To stop one tab from taking an assistant’s work, click the row “This tab” in the account panel; off is remembered in that browser. To disconnect an assistant, remove the DAS connector in the assistant’s settings.
